ADHD & Neurodiversity Counselling

You do not need a formal diagnosis to access ADHD or ASD affirming care!

Neurodiverse brains are different, and this means that therapy for us has to look different. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming care, that steps away from "disordered" thinking. While my focus is on ADHD, I have worked with many Autistic clients and AuDHD clients as well.

What is Neurospicy-affirming care?

ADHD is often described as a disorder, but many people experience it simply as a different way of thinking and processing the world. As an ADHD therapist offering online therapy, I work from an affirming perspective that recognizes the strengths and creativity that often come with neurodiverse minds (or neurospicy, as I prefer to call it!). I particularly focus on working individuals who discovered their neurodiversity in adulthood, which is often the case with women. Many adults with ADHD have spent years feeling misunderstood or criticized for struggles with focus, organization, time management, or emotional regulation. These are labeled by neurotypical society as "moral failings". But are they? Therapy can be a space where those experiences are normalized and understood instead of judged.

In ADHD counselling, we look at how your brain works and how to work "with the grain", rather than against it. Instead of trying to force yourself into systems designed for neurotypical brains, we explore practical and creative work-arounds that fit your natural rhythms and patterns. This might include strategies for executive functioning, emotional regulation, motivation, and managing overwhelm, while also exploring how ADHD may affect self-esteem, relationships, and daily life.

Many people also discover that ADHD intersects with other experiences such as burnout, anxiety, or past negative messages about themselves. Through ADHD therapy, we can explore these patterns together and develop approaches that support both self-understanding and self-compassion. My goal is to help you better understand how your brain works and find ways to build a life that feels more sustainable and aligned with who you are.

While I cannot diagnose you, I still offer ADHD and ASD affirming care, regardless of whether you have a formal diagnosis, and I can offer you resources to access more affordable assessment options.
